The 2018–19 NBA season was the 73rd season of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Regular season began on October 16, 2018. Christmas Games were played on December 25. The 2019 NBA All-Star Game was played on February 17, 2019 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Regular season ended on April 10, 2019. The Playoffs began on April 13, 2019 and ended on June 13, 2019, with the Toronto Raptors defeating the two-time defending champions the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA Finals, becoming NBA champions for the first time in their franchise's history, ending a 26-year drought, as well as making their first NBA Finals appearance. Kawhi Leonard was the MVP for the second time in his career.



  • On May 10, Nick Collison announced his retirement after 15 playing seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder. His number 4 jersey was retired by the Thunder on January 12, 2019, making him the first Thunder player to have his jersey retired.
  • On May 25, Mo Williams announced his retirement after playing 13 seasons with seven teams.

Free Agency

Free Agency negotiations began on July 1 players began signing on July 6 after the July moratorium ends.


The Preseason began on September 29 and ended on October 12.

International Games

The Dallas Mavericks and the Philadelphia 76ers will play two preseason games in china at Shanghai on October 5 and Shenzen on October 8.

The Washington Wizards will play the New York Knicks in a regular season game in London on January 17, 2019.

Regular season

The Regular season began on October 16, 2018 and ended on April 10, 2019.


  • This was the Milwaukee Bucks' first season at the Wisconsin Sports and Entertainment Center.
  • This was the Golden State Warriors' final season at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The Warriors played their final regular season and postseason games there in April-June 2019 before moving to the Chase Center in Downtown San Francisco, California.


This was the third year of the current contracts with ABC, ESPN, TNT and NBA TV.


On June 6, 2018 the Denver Nuggets unveiled new logos and new uniforms for the 2018-19 NBA season.
