City University of New York Athletic Conference

CUNY Logo.

The City University of New York Athletic Conference is a conference participating in the NCAA's Division III. It was founded in 1987. All current members are part of the City University of New York system.

The CUNYAC is unique in that it sponsors both senior college and community college athletics.

In April 2025, the CUNYAC announced that it would expand outside New York City, with New Jersey City University being announced as the first of several planned new members. NJCU will join for men's volleyball in 2025–26 and become an affiliate in multiple sports in 2026–27 before fully joining in July 2027. Both CUNYAC and NJCU indicated that the senior college conference would reorganize into a new Division III league with a new name.[1][2]
