Clifford Ralph Robinson (December 16, 1966 – August 29, 2020) was an American professional basketball player who played 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Selected in the second round of the 1989 NBA draft, he played the first eight seasons of his career with the Portland Trail Blazers, followed by stints with the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, and New Jersey Nets. Robinson received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1993 and was selected as an NBA All-Star in 1994. He played college basketball for the UConn Huskies.
Survivor Career[]
- Clifford appeared on the 28th season of Survivor (Titled: Survivor Cagayan Brains vs. Brawns. vs Beauty). Clifford was placed on the Brawn tribe (also known as the Appari tribe). Clifford tried to keep his NBA status a secret as he felt like it would hurt his game, however, this didn't last long as fellow tribemate Woo Hwang was a fan of his, who he would later develop a friendship with. Clifford, along with his other 5 Appari tribe members, would later go on to win the first 4 immunity challenges during the first 3 episodes. However, during episode 4, a tribe swap occurred. Clifford and 4 of his 5 Appari tribemates Trish, Tony, Woo, and Lindsay all swapped to the Solana tribe with a 5-2 advantage against Original Solana members Jefra and LJ. However, when Solana lost immunity, Clifford was blindsided at his first tribal council when fellow Appari members Tony and Trish turned on him, leaving Clifford to be voted out in a 4-3 vote against LJ, becoming the 5th person voted out and finishing 14th place.[1]
Death[]
In March 2019, Robinson underwent surgery for cancer treatment. Clifford died on August 29, 2020, at the age of 53 due to lymphoma.
