The Coastal Athletic Association (known as the CAA) is a conference participating in the NCAA's Division I, with member institutions in Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It was founded in 1979 as the ECAC South, a basketball-only league, and became the Colonial Athletic Association in 1985, when it became an all-sports conference. It did not sponsor football until 2007, when it took over administration of the football conference previously operated by the Atlantic 10 Conference, operating it as the technically separate entity of CAA Football.
The conference adopted its current name in September 2023.
