The Evansville Purple Aces men's basketball team represents the University of Evansville, located in Evansville, Indiana, in NCAA NCAA Division I basketball competition. They developed the nickname Purple Aces while playing a game of poker in the locker room. The coach at the time revealed a "purple ace" card from the deck that was not supposed to be there. After 56 years at Roberts Stadium, they moved to the 11,000-seat Ford Center, which opened for the 2011-12 season.
