Fred DeLay Gymnasium is located on campus at Union University (1050 Union University Drive; Jackson, TN 38305). It is located east of the bell tower and faces south, toward the outdoor athletic fields. Direct entrance to the gym can be made using the Country Club Lane entrance to campus (south entrance).
It is also the home of Union University's volleyball (since 1998) and basketball teams (since 1975). "The Fred" as it has become known, seats 1,823 and is named after former Union coaching great, Fred DeLay. The gymnasium was built in 1975 when the campus moved to north Jackson and has seen many renovations and additions during its lifetime. The chair-back seats in the Booster Club/Season Ticket holder section were added in the fall of 1994, along with 500 bleacher seats upstairs, above the season ticket holder seats. The court was renovated in December of 2008, when the floor was named for Union's long time women's basketball coach, athletic director and NAIA Hall of Famer, Dr. David Blackstock. In December of 2015, the court was redesigned with new tint and also revealed the new bulldog logo. The court remained named after Coach Blackstock with his signature added to the design of the floor. In the summer of 2016, new bleachers, including a section of additional chair seats, were added to the student/visitor side of the gym. These new seats replaced the old bleachers that were used since the gym was built in 1975.
