The IU Indy Jaguars basketball team represents Indiana University Indianapolis, formed in July 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Before the 2024–25 season, the team was known as the IUPUI Jaguars and represented Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), a joint campus of the Indiana University (IU) and Purdue University systems. The two systems dissolved IUPUI and replaced it with separate IU- and Purdue-affiliated institutions. With the vast majority of IUPUI academic programs being taken over by the new IU Indianapolis, the athletic program was transferred to that institution. Shortly before the formal dissolution of IUPUI, the official athletic program website started using the "IU Indy" branding.
The school's team currently competes in the Horizon League. The team last played in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament in 2003. The Jaguars men are currently coached by Paul Corsaro. In 2008, standout George Hill, skipped his final year of eligibility and entered the NBA Draft where he was selected 26th Overall by the San Antonio Spurs, becoming the first player drafted from IUPUI.[1]
