John Loyer (born 1964/1965) is an American basketball coach currently serving as interim coach for the Detroit Pistons and former college basketball player. Loyer previously served as assistant coach for 27 years coaching for 7 different teams including his alama mater Akron Zips were he began his career in 1987. In January 2014, Loyer was appointed interim coach after the firing of Maurice Cheeks.
