The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (known as the MEAC) is a conference participating in NCAA Division I. All full members are historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs)—institutions founded specifically to educate African Americans before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Founded in 1970, the MEAC includes institutions in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Current members
- Bethune-Cookman — joined in 1979
- Coppin State — joined in 1985
- Delaware State — charter member
- Florida A&M — joined in 1979; leaving in July 2021 for the Southwestern Athletic Conference
- Howard — charter member
- Maryland–Eastern Shore — charter member; left in 1979, rejoined in 1981
- Morgan State — charter member; left in 1979, rejoined in 1984
- Norfolk State — joined in 1997
- North Carolina A&T — charter member; leaving in July 2021 for the Big South Conference
