The Mid-South Conference is a conference participating in the NAIA, with full member institutions in Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. The Mid-South currently has 12 full members, all but two are private schools. It was founded in 1995.

- Cumberland (not to be confused with Cumberlands) left the Mid-South in 2002 and rejoined in 2012.
- Life will leave the Mid-South for the Southern States Athletic Conference in July 2022.
- Thomas More will leave the NAIA to return to the NCAA in the coming years. It will officially join the NCAA Division II Great Midwest Athletic Conference in July 2022, but will maintain dual membership in the NCAA and NAIA until starting G-MAC competition in July 2023.
- UT Southern joined the Mid-South as the Martin Methodist RedHawks, representing Martin Methodist College. The school became the University of Tennessee Southern in 2021 after Martin Methodist sold its campus to the state of Tennessee. The athletic program changed its nickname to FireHawks at that time.
