A Swingman is a basketball player who can play both the Shooting Guard and Small Forward positions and alternate back and forth between the two. As in "swing" back and forth. These players are usually considered to be very athletic with the skills for both positions. They also may be good defensive players, making them capable to play defense on shooting guards and small forwards. A Swingman is thus considered very valuable to a team.
