The Utah Tech Trailblazers, formerly nicknamed "Rebels" and "Red Storm", represent Utah Tech University, known before July 2022 as Dixie State University, located in St. George, Utah, in NCAA basketball. The school was founded as a high school in 1911, becoming a junior college in 1916 and a four-year institution in 2000. Utah Tech joined NCAA Division II in 2006 as Dixie State, and started a four-year transition to NCAA Division I in July 2020 as a new member of the Western Athletic Conference.
The university changed its name to Utah Tech University in 2022, with the forward-facing name change taking place on May 15, ahead of the legal name change on July 1. The "Trailblazers" nickname was not affected.
