Western Michigan University (abbr. WMU) is a public university established in 1903; its main campus is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. As of 2006, the school has slightly fewer than 25,000 students. The school is the fourth largest in the state of Michigan and is one of the 50 largest universities in the United States.The school's mascot is Buster Bronco, and the school colors are brown and gold. The first president of WMU was Dwight B. Waldo.

The Western Michigan Broncos basketball team is the basketball team that represent Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The school's team competes in the Mid-American Conference. The team last played in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament in 2004. The Broncos are currently coached by Steve Hawkins.
