Andris Biedriņš (born April 2, 1986 in Riga, Latvia) is a professional basketball player, who plays the center positon. He is currently playing for the NBA's Golden State Warriors. He was drafted by the Warriors in the 1st round (11th overall) in the 2004 NBA Draft.

FIBA career[]

Before going to America, he played for Latvian team Skonto Riga. In eleven games for the FIBA European league (2003-2004), he averaged 18.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.82 blocks.

NBA career[]

In his rookie season Biedriņš played in 30 games, posting a PER of 14.8, and averaging 3.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game. He was also the youngest player in the league during his rookie year.

In his second year, Biedriņš played in 68 games. He posted 3.8 points and 4.2 Rebounds, with 14.1 minutes per game. Even with his free throw shooting problems, he is still a solid player.

Personal Life[]

His salary of US$1.5 million makes him the youngest millionaire in Latvia. In the next four years he will earn $1,857,360, $1,986,960, $2,636,695, and $3,609,636 respectively.

Trivia[]

Biedriņš has only a .366 career free throw percentage, but his career field goal percentage is .620, making his field goal percentage almost double his free throw percentage.
